The time we are now in has been called "The Time of Trial on Earth," "Judgement Day," "The Time of Great Purification," "The End of this Creation," "The Quickening," "The End of Time as We Know It," "The Shift of the Ages." It is foretold that the completion of the Precession brings regeneration of Earth, offering awakening to all open, willing hearts. Many people spoke of these last days of the Great Cycle, including the: Maya, Hopi, Egyptians, Kabbalists, Essenes, Qero elders of Peru, Navajo, Cherokee, Apache, Iroquois confederacy, Dogon Tribe, and Aborigines.
The ancient Maya understood this 26,000 year cycle to be specifically composed of 5 lesser cycles, each 5,125 years each. Each of these 5 cycles was considered its own World Age or Creation Cycle. As depicted on the familiar, circular MesoAmerican Sun Stone, (often called the Aztec Calendar) each Creation Cycle is said to have been ruled and destroyed by one of 5 elements. Specifically, 4 Jaguar, 4 Wind, 4 Rain, 4 Water.
The end of every cycle is the beginning of a new one. The period in between is where we make our Choices. Will we destroy ourselves? Will we perish due to the cleansing events that will ensue or will we come from our Hearts and help one another, transcend into Christ Consciousness and leave all limitations and duality behind?
In Mayan calendrics, the initial date that Earth entered the Fifth World was August 13, 3113 BC, written in Mayan long count notation as 13.0.0.0.0. Every day from that point was reckoned by the number of days passed since the event of this cosmic beginning point.
As Dr. Jose Arguelles writes in "Time and The Technosphere" -
"August 13, 3113 BC is as precise and accurate as one can get for a beginning of history: the first Egyptian dynasty is dated to ca 3100 BC; the first 'city,' Uruk, in Mesopotamia, also ca 3100 BC; the Hindu Kali Yuga, 3102 BC; and most interestingly, the division of time into 24 hours of 60 minutes each and each minute into 60 seconds [and the division of the circle into 360 degrees], also around 3100 BC, in Sumeria. If the beginning of history was so accurately placed, then must not the end of history, December 21, 2012 also be as accurate?"
As avid stargazers, the ancient Maya were keen to an astrological cycle we call the Precession of the Equinoxes. This is close to a 26,000 year cycle in which Earth transits through each of the 12 signs of the zodiac for about 2152 years each. Each of these astrological ages represents one month of the grand, Cosmic Year. Sumerians, Tibetans, Egyptians, Cherokees, Hopi, and Mayans refer to this same 26,000 year cycle in their mystical belief systems and each have developed calendars based on this great cycle.
We are at the end of a 26,000-year cycle and at the end of a lesser 5,125 year cycle for planet Earth. We are also crossing the Galactic Equator. As our Earth gets closer to the top of the orbit of that lesser cycle, it gets closer to the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. In the center of the Galaxy there is a Black Hole, and next to it, a recent discovery has revealed a Sun that emanates the light of a thousand Suns (the Great Central Sun). The energy emitted by these two bodies on the Earth's magnetic field will cause shifting on the surface as well as on the consciousness of Humanity.
On December 21, 2012, an event will occur that only happens once every 26,000 years. It's called the "Galactic Alignment." The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This alignment occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes.
Like a wobbling top, the orientation of the Earth's axis is slowly but continuously changing, tracing out a conical shape in a cycle of approximately 26,000 years (called a Great or Platonic year in astrology). This movement is caused by the gravitational forces of the Sun and the Moon, and to a lesser extent other bodies, on the equatorial bulge of the spinning Earth. The term "precession" typically refers only to this largest periodic motion; other changes in the alignment of Earth's axis — nutation and polar motion — are very much smaller in magnitude.
In ancient times the precession of the equinox referred to the motion of the equinox relative to the background stars in the zodiac; this is equivalent to the modern understanding. It acted as a method of keeping time in the Great year.
Historically, Hipparchus is credited with discovering that the positions of the equinoxes move westward along the ecliptic compared to the fixed stars on the celestial sphere. The exact dates of his life are not known, but astronomical observations attributed to him date from 147 BC to 127 BC and were described in his writings, none of which are known to survive."
Our solar system is part of a huge disc shaped collection of stars and planets called the Milky Way. We're located somewhere on the edge of the disc, slightly on top of the narrow disc. But very soon we'll be moving to the bottom of the disc. This change, from top to bottom, begins on December 21, 2012.
Between year 2008 - 2012 ( 2015 ) , there will be Galactic Alignment of our Solar system with the Central of the Milky Way ... Will the Black Hole in the center and the newly discovered Sun make a gravitational influence with this Galactic plane ?
Imagine our solar system as a bunch of peas on a plate. Imagine the Milky Way as a city-size pizza with the "Gigantic Meatball" in its center!
Prior to December 2012 we have been drifting on the top of the pizza, never really able to see the bottom. The plate and pizza are not parallel. They are moving at different angles. We've been drifting down, down, down... and on December 21st, 2012, we will be exactly level with the crust -- forming an "x" at the Galactic Equator where galactic gravity is the strongest. After 2012, we will be passing through the bottom zone, viewing the Milky Way pizza from the South.
If a polar shift ensues due to either the gravitational pull of the Black Hole or other forces, as we cross the Galaxy's Equator, it could cost human lives. Possible continental shifting, earthquakes, super volcanoes, changes in the magnetic field, disorientation and death of animals like dolphins, whales, bats, bees could also occur. Lack of pollination of crops could follow, creating hunger and shortage of drinking water. Our ancestors predicted earthquakes, storms and flooding with a high radiation hit of plasma from the Sun. Also predicted is possible hits by asteroids passing through our atmosphere, with nuclear-type destruction, along with displacement of continents. If all or any of these events occur, it could cause much of the surface to become uninhabitable.
According to some scientists, Solar Flares will become stronger as we cross this Galactic Equator. We're currently entering Solar Cycle 24, which promises to be a stronger Solar Flare Cycle than any previous ones.
According to Earth Changes Media:

This event has been repeated with many civilizations that flourished and disappeared in the past – civilizations that we haven’t even heard of and that many archeologist are still digging up in areas under 10,000 feet of ice. Some of these civilizations were extremely advanced with underground sewage and running water. Some of the digs reveal Malls where goods were sold. What happened to these societies? Why are some of them buried under so many feet of snow? What can we expect? Are we prepared physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually for any possible challenges in the magnitude of what our ancestors might have faced?
We're now at a Crossroads... This is OUR opportunity to make the RIGHT Choices! Regardless of whether you believe the doomsday prophecies or not, we Know something Big is going to happen. It could be a combination of Earth Changes and changes in Human Consciousness. But we must admit, that the Human species has a hard time changing for the better on its own. The Human species will get down on its knees and seek the Creator only when they're at the precipice, facing an overwhelming abyss!
2012 may be the "Choice Point" where the forces of a galactic alignment may push us to make incredible decisions, decisions that may shake us out of an old world reality, allowing us to discard old belief systems and old paradigms.
But the Choice Point is now, not on December 12, 2012. Now is the time to go within and go to that quiet place, that place where our Creator Dwells, where in that silence, in between breaths, we're all the same, we're all equal and One with the Creator. Today is when our change of consciousness begins!
It is here, in this Oneness that we can choose to learn from what has occurred in the past and change the possible course of the future....
The Choice is Ours!
This is the time to go into your Hearts and function from there! It's the time to seek out your neighbor and lend a helping hand. It's time also to realize that your neighbor is everyone! It's the time to let go of all our "perceived" differences and judgments and condemnations and blame.
It is the time to look into the eyes of those you have misjudged and "Know" that being is also you and that in order to make it, we need to rekindle our love for Humanity, the love for the only species who was made in the Image of God. Maybe it is time we do random acts of kindness, we act selflessly, we give without expectation of an outcome, we love unconditionally, we show reverence to a Creator who has given us Life and who is now expressing Himself through a Homeless Man or through the citizens of foreign nations at war with us.
This is the time we realize that ALL Life is equal and undifferentiated. That all life is encoded with God's DNA - All Life! That we emanate from the Exhale of our Creator, and that we are tiny expressions of Him, allowing Him to experience His Creation, through us!
It's the time to reach out to those that don't know where to look for answers, who are lost and beaten down by a consciousness that is holding on to an illusion that tells them that they are less-than and undeserving. It's an illusion that makes them believe that they are separate from the Creator that dwells inside of them - a Creator who is silently waiting to be rediscovered and to be given a chance to show them that all they had to do was ask....
The time has come for us to hold our fellow Man's hand, get them to a ladder and pull them out of the pits of darkness - some may not even realize that there is a ladder that they can climb on. Show them the way!
This is the time to show compassion for everyone, for All Living things, for there will be much suffering to those that do not understand what is happening to their world and to them. Replace despair with hope, replace apathy with caring and Love.... Take the time to make a difference in someone's life everyday. You be the difference in this world!

Treatment that includes medication plus a structured training program for parents reduces serious behavioral problems in children with autism and related conditions, according to a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Saving the single cysteine: New antioxidant system found
ANN ARBOR, Mich.---We've all read studies about the health benefits of having a life partner. The same thing is true at the molecular level, where amino acids known as cysteines are much more vulnerable to damage when single than when paired up with other cysteines.
Now, researchers at the University of Michigan, along with colleagues in Belgium, have discovered a new antioxidant system that protects single cysteines. The research appears in the Nov. 20 issue of the journal Science.

Funeral industry workers exposed to formaldehyde face higher risk of leukemia
Long durations of exposure to formaldehyde used for embalming in the funeral industry were associated with an increased risk of death from myeloid leukemia, according to a new study published online November 20 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
Previous studies have shown excess mortality from lymphohematopoietic malignancies and brain cancer in anatomists, pathologists, and funeral industry workers, all of whom may have worked with formaldehyde.
High blood pressure easy to miss in children with kidney disease

Possible link studied between childhood abuse and early cellular aging
PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Children who suffer physical or emotional abuse may be faced with accelerated cellular aging as adults, according to new research from Butler Hospital and Brown University.
The findings, which are published online in the journal Biological Psychiatry, draw a direct connection between childhood psychological trauma and accelerated reduction in the size of telomeres, the "caps" on the end of chromosomes that promote cellular stability. Telomeres typically shorten with age.
International expedition investigates climate change, alternative fuels in Arctic

(Nov. 20, 2009) – Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center and VCU Institute of Molecular Medicine researchers have identified a gene that may play a pivotal role in two processes that are essential for tumor development, growth and progression to metastasis. Scientists hope the finding could lead to an effective therapy to target and inhibit the expression of this gene resulting in inhibition of cancer growth.
Older problem drinkers use more alcohol than do their younger counterparts
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Older adults who have alcohol dependence problems drink significantly more than do younger adults who have similar problems, a new study has found.
The findings suggest that older problem drinkers may have developed a tolerance for alcohol and need to drink even more than younger abusers to achieve the effects they seek.
Radiology procedure may help increase long-term survival in patients with severe liver cancer

Chest ultrasound can serve as a viable alternative to chest CT in the evaluation of pediatric patients with complicated pneumonia and parapneumonic effusion (a build-up of fluid between the lung and chest wall), according to a study published in the December issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology.
Pneumonia in the pediatric population is common. Both the diagnosis and therapy of complicated pneumonia is guided by imaging — CT, to date, playing a central role in complicated cases.
